Erin McWilliams, LGPC

Integrative LGBTQIA+ & Relationship Specialist

Hello! I'm Erin and I'm so happy to meet you. I come to the counseling field following a dozen years in education and vocational rehabilitation. I have worked with a
range of children and adults, including those with various disabilities. I am happy to welcome all clients who come to me with an open mind and a desire to access their best self. Due to my lived experience, I am especially aware of the particular needs and concerns of the LGBTQIA and polyamorous communities. I recognize that identity intersections play a key role in our mental health. I am interested in working with clients who want to free themselves from addiction or disordered relationships to substances or food. I am happy to work with clients to find the best approach for them, whether that be abstention or harm reduction. I believe that radical acceptance transforms lives and that self-actualization is a lifelong process - and I would like to help you on your path!

I am energetic, effusive, positive, and witty, but offer the balance of compassion and vulnerability. I strive to be aware of how privilege has informed my own life and others’. Some identities I hold: genderqueer, ethically non-monogamous, vegan, punk, neuroatypical, and sober. Regardless of my clients’ identities, I strive to create trust and rapport with each of them, and offer unconditional regard, balancing gentle but explorative inquiry and a solution-focused approach. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Scandinavian from U.C. Berkeley (ask me about living in Sweden!), an M.A. in rehabilitation counseling from Utah State University, and an addictions counseling certificate from California University of PA. I look forward to meeting you, and beginning our therapy journey together!
