MOLLY PHELPS, LCSW-C

Social Justice & Liberation Psychology Specialist

I am a psychotherapist with a holistic and integrative approach to therapy. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all situation, and each person brings something different to the therapy room. My work primarily focuses on empowering clients to evaluate their context within their systems, explore and understand feelings and desires, and providing support as they work towards creating lives they are passionate about living. I view therapy as a partnership and am willing to get creative with how we approach your therapy goals. You deserve to give yourself space to heal and grow, and to take charge of what you can control in this unpredictable world we live in.

My framework for therapy, at its core, draws on the theories of liberation psychology and the belief that mental health is not simply an individual responsibility, but a culmination of the implications of all aspects of our lives, including living in our current cultural context. In our modern age of Empire and capitalism, our very relationships with our work, with one another, and with our planet are shaped by external systemic forces intended to keep us engaged as cogs in the machine. The alienation and dehumanization we experience takes a massive toll on our mental health and ability to care for ourselves and our communities. The onus is forced onto us as individuals to fix ourselves to be productive members of society, when we could be dreaming so much bigger about ways to mitigate and heal from trauma and harm.

The good news is that you are not alone, and there are real, tangible things we can do together to create change. I look forward to partnering with you on your journey!
