Ruchi uses the principles of mindfulness and positive psychology after an analysis of the client’s strengths and weaknesses and centers her coaching on using their strengths to help them improve upon their areas of weakness. She takes a solution-focused approach with the goal of scaffolding clients to use the practiced skills to live an empowered healthy life and be independent, though she remains available to support should they need it. She also uses a character strength analyses and DBT skills to manage anxiety and stress. After initial consultation, both client and coach decide whether there is a good fit for working together to achieve client goals. Her comprehensive training includes her first Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Teacher’s College, Columbia University and also completing a post-grad certificate in clinical practice at New York University. She is a certified health coach by the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, so brings a holistic and integrative element to her work as is a part of the American Association for Drugless Practitioners. Finally, she is a certified behavioral change specialist by the American Council of Exercise and a certified trauma specialist. She also used yoga therapy and dance therapy movements to employ the mind-body connection in healing trauma, depression and anxiety. It is her firm belief that movement can be the pathway to effective distress tolerance and coping mechanisms through adverse life situations.
Overall as a yoga therapist and coach, Ruchi will explore the client's mind, body, soul connection and appeal to all three through movement and talk therapy in hopes of achieving better coping and life skills.
